Part of the Poetic Medicine Summit 2026 year-long series

The Expressive Art of Poetry

In this Poetic Medicine workshop, you’ll be invited into a process that weaves poetry, creative expression, reflection, and writing as pathways for exploration, discovery, and self-awareness.

As we write and reflect together, we’ll access and give voice to the mysteries and challenges that shape our lives, deepening authenticity and creative possibility. Open to all, especially those drawn to writing as a way to heal and thrive, this circle offers practical, experiential tools for cultivating resilience and inner light in turbulent times.

You'll leave with renewed creative energy and a deeper understanding of how poetic expression can sustain both personal growth and communal belonging.

Practitioner of Poetic Medicine

Susan is an educator, poet, photographer, and eco-minister. She served as director of the creative expression certification program at Sofia University while teaching courses in creative expression & transformation, transpersonal ecopsychology, and spiritual practices. Today, she facilitates poetry circles in educational, health, creative, and spiritual settings, and with John Fox for Cancer LifeLine.

Susan loves meeting others in the wild and healing landscapes of poetry while supporting the co-creation of trustworthy communities. This is especially true in her 12-week series, Opening the Mystic Heart Through Poetry, where the focus is on cultivating our mystic heart and self-compassion, and our capacity to care for the human and more-than-human world. Together we practice poetic expression, deep listening, and contemplative practices.

Her poetry has been published in Voices of the Grieving Heart (Bernhardt), Yanaguana Literary Journal, Deep Times Journal, Presence Journal, and her writing in Anxiety Warrior II (Elke Schultz) and with Abbey of the Arts.
