Poetic Medicine Programs

The Institute for Poetic Medicine is dedicated to nurturing the human capacity to connect to Self, Other, Community, the Natural World, and the Divine through the healing, expressive art of poetry.

We do this work through a variety of poetry circles and training programs.

Poetic Medicine poetry circles offer a brave space for personal experience within a circle of exploration and discovery. The IPM training programs guide people to gain knowledge, practice, and confidence to lead their own circles.

For anyone interested in fostering a creative and therapeutic approach to wellness through the integration of Poetic Medicine into mental health and wellness programs.  This program offers an opportunity to experience poetry-as-healer through our monthly poetry circles and training series.

Poetic Medicine Summit 2026: A Year of Poetic Medicine

April 24th-26th Opening Event featured keynote speakers: John Fox, Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer, and Amanda Johnston. 

Letters subscriptions are available at any point during the year by subscribing through the link below or through the Letters level on the membership page.  

Space in the poetry circle is limited to 12 people to allow time for each person to share during our time together.  Poetry Circle registration closed Feb 1st.
Poetry of Nature

Our Poetry of Nature circle is co-led by poet and Nature photographer NanLeah with poet and climate change activist Geoff Oelsner.

We will offer opportunities to join this program in 2026.
