Awake | Judith Prest

A photo of a large body of water nearing sunset. The sky is a gradient of oranges, the circle of the sun a white hot, and the water a blue-black. There is a poem by Judith Prest titled "Awake" that reads: "when cold salt water/washes my feet/I awake/know where I am/when the long pull/of the moon/moving the ocean/draws me to the deep/or urges me to shore/I know where I am//feel//time distilled//to a moment//only here//only now//only wave, only wind//when the osprey dives/fierce and focused/rises with a fish/in her talons//I wake//to my life again//shocked into awareness/that in this moment/sharp/salt washed/is all I have"
