Your Hands

Your hands with the textures of desert landscape

They have lifted distressed children

held friends who felt broken

numerous cups of tea

and coffee spiced with Kaluah

And always your favorite Snickerdoodles

When we gazed at you

with the map of the world

etched and stretched

into the folds of your face

Your voice

was my first choice

to hear

"These are a few of my Favorite Things"

It rings through the hollow

that my soul has swallowed

while missing you

I regret

not understanding that

that time would run out!
