Metaphor Medicine

In 2020 Wayne Gilbert created Metaphor Medicine, a poetry workshop for people with Parkinson’s (PwP’s) and care-partners. Wayne has offered the workshop on zoom 3 times.

He has worked in collaboration with the Davis Phinney Foundation, an international Parkinson’s educational and advocacy group. The workshop helps PwP’s and care-partners make and share poems as a way to live better with the disease and find meaning in their own experiences.

Wayne was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2005 and is an active poet, performer and workshop leader. He has known John Fox and the work of poetry-as-healer for nearly a quarter century.
