Healing Poetry: Working with Survivors of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault

This Healing Poetry Program is designed for facilitators working with clients who have experienced domestic violence and/or sexual assault. 

The meetings will focus on enhancing the innate, creative capacities of the individual in Healing Poetry groups. 

This training will be interactive in nature with an emphasis on the joy of creativity. 

Topics will include: 

  • Healing Poetry in a trauma informed setting 
  • Healing Poetry and the neurobiology of trauma 
  • Strategies for enhancing individual growth in a group setting 

This interactive and engaging program is offered for clinicians and lay persons, alike. 

The program is based in part on 8 years of Rise Up! Poetry, a weekly Healing Poetry Program for survivors of domestic and sexual violence at Domestic Abuse and Sexual Assault Intervention Services, DASI, Newton, NJ.
